Data Migration Lead

Position Purpose

The role sits within Our Client's Change and Transformation Team in Wellington. This is a client-focused role with a strong practical understanding of technology and operations, working in close collaboration with all stakeholders.

The role sits within the project team but will work within the wider data management structure or the organisation, ensuring alignment with the wider strategies. They will have a functional relationship to the Head of Data Governance to ensure all change is executed to the standards required.

The Data Migration and Analytics Lead is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the end-to-end data migration strategies for projects and client onboardings, including requirement to:

  • Understand different methodologies between entities
  • Define how data will be mapped and internalized, including management of any known pain points
  • Lay out how we can complete the desired data activities to achieve objectives
  • Describe the changes the organization needs to make to maximize the value of its data activities and outlines plans for how we can make those changes
  • Establish a timeline for completing the proposed activities, define milestones and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • END-TO-END DATA MIGRATION STRATEGIES REQUIRED FOR A NEW CLIENT ONBOARDING
  • Understand different methodologies and differences between data sets
  • Understand the current pain points and ensure approaches to mitigate
  • Define how data will be mapped and internalized to meet business goals
  • Lay out how we can complete the desired data activities to achieve our objectives
  • Describe the changes the organization needs to make to maximize the value of its data activities and outlines plans for how we can make those changes
  • Establish a timeline for completing the proposed activities, define milestones and priorities.
  • Directs and contributes to the development and maintenance of data governance standards, supporting tools and documentation, etc.

Competencies (Technical/Behavioural)

Business

  • Prior domain experience: Data, Fund Administration, Unit Pricing, Superannuation, Life Insurance – desirable
  • Regulatory and taxation experience – desirable
  • Custody middle-office, back-office administration experience – desirable

Technical

  • 10+ year experience in data management (operational or project)
  • 5+ year experience in financial services - desirable
  • Experience with both Waterfall and Agile project delivery methodologies

Specific Qualifications Required

• Degree qualified in IT, Business, or related discipline; and / or relevant work experience in a similar role.
